Moses Seenarine is the son of Savitri and the father of Jad.
Seenarine completed an Ed.D in International Education from Columbia University, New York, in 1998. His dissertation research was on the multiple oppressions faced by lower class, out-casted women. The study was published in 2004by Mellen Press, titled “Voices from the Subaltern: Education and Empowerment Among Dalit (Untouchable) Women in India”
Seenarine wrote numerous articles on women in the Global South and on female immigrants in the Americas, including “Recasting Indian Women in Colonial Guiana: Gender, labor and caste in the lives of indentured and free laborers,” (1998).
Seenarine served as Assistant Professor in the department of Black and Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, City University of New York. His work on women, labor, caste and race has been cited by the FAO, UNESCO, Human Rights Watch, Anti-Slavery International, the Institute for the Study of Labor, World Council of Churches, and many others.
